Taiwanese company, MSI, has a new portable 15.6 inch FHD monitor that weighs about 1.65 lbs (750 g) and has a 0.4 inch (1.08 cm) profile.
The Pro MP161 also comes with a kickstand and can be oriented in both portrait and landscape modes. MSI also includes its Display Kit app which allows user to set up color modes an screen settings for gaming, movie watching, or just to reduce eye-strain.
It’s probably good for laptop warriors who need a second screen or want to share a presentation to a small group but, although MSI is really targeting the professional user, they are also hedging their bets and think it might be a good display to take around with you if you want to share a console gaming session with a friend, more Wii than PS5, but still.
Two things about second screens like this: you can carry a laptop because you want to me mobile and you probably have a sensitivity to any extra weight so, a second screen may sound great but it’s still baggage; you use a laptop in situations where, usually, there is no room for anything but your laptop, and that means no second screen or screen extenders and anything else that might need more space. And if you are taking the laptop to your desk, you probably have a docking station or a setup for a bigger screen already in place. Which leaves very little room for the second screen for mobile warriors. At 15.6″ it is not a great luggable for traveling gamers, either. It’s not even worth worrying about the price on this one, not that we could find one.
