Last week, Protocol Entertainment reported that Microsoft is using the phrase ‘XBox Everywhere’ and that the Game Pass subscription service will spread from the console to the PC and eventually ‘every device’. The firm recently announced a deal to partner with Epic Games to ease the delivery of Fortnite to players via the cloud.
There is speculation that Microsoft will launch a streaming dongle to support the service and will develop an app for Samsung SmartTVs.
What We Think
At the SID/DSCC Business Conference, Paul Gray highlighted that Omdia is very bullish on the importance of cloud gaming in the future. Not everyone agrees, with Sony not really moving its platform on, preferring to sell full priced games. (BR)
