What They Say
The Elec reports, quoting local Chinese media, that BOE has secured $3 billion in funding to expand its B12 production line for OLEDs for smartphones in Chongqing.
The company currently operations two flexible OLED lines B7 and B11. When B12 goes live, it will have a OLED production capacity of 144,000 sheets per month. B12 is expected to go live in the second half.
The cash will also be used to increase its stake in Wuhan BOE Optoelectronics G10.5 LCD fab which is expected to get to full capacity in the first half of this year. The factory is the company’s second after its Gen 10.5 LCD factory at Anhui and each has a capacity of 120,000 substrates per month.
What We Think
And so the shift to dominance from Samsung and LG to BOE and CSOT continues, although slightly slower because of Covid and because of tight supply. (BR)
