What We Think
Both Samsung and LG typically go through this kind of process at this time of year so it’s routine. The most interesting point is that the firm is clear that it wants to boost MicroLED development, but that is understandable. LG has relatively few ‘natural’ advantages in attacking the LED market so has to try harder if it wants to succeed and survive. The firm has announced what it calls a microLED TV, but this is a 0.9mm CoB modular set with 1,200cd/m² of output, so we would classify it as small pitch LED, not microLED. (BR)
