US media sources have reported that Amazon is developing a Wi-Fi-connected DVR device codenamed “Frank” to compete with the likes of Sky Q and Tivo. Frank is said to connect with the company’s range of Echo smart speakers and Fire TV devices, as well as providing typical features like live TV recording and storage, plus video streaming to mobile devices.
Reports have also indicated that a software upgrade is also on the way to Amazon’s Fire TV stick devices. It’s not clear whether this new software relates to Frank in any way.
