Samsung has released a major software update for its Gear S2 smartwatch. Enhancements include the optimisation of icons and widgets to better suit the Gear’s circular display, along with a new shortcut widget providing the user with quick access to their most-used apps. Additionally, the swipe-down quick panel menu can now be accessed from all screens, rather than just the home screen.
The Samsung Health app has also undergone some streamlining changes, such as a new weight management feature and improvements to personalisation and at-a-glance view options, plus a new multi-workout widget and additional inactivity monitor alerts. Gear users can now receive a full weather report on their device every morning, as well as using it as a controller for Gear VR.
