The Video Services Forum is pleased to announce a major industry interoperability demonstration of the latest technologies for transporting uncompressed video and audio over IP networks. This interop event will take place during VidTrans 2018 which will be held at the Marina del Rey Marriott in Los Angeles, CA, February 27 to March 1.
The theme of this year’s conference is, “Making IP Video Production a Reality” and will focus on the innovative types of IP networking and video technologies and their application both to video transport and for applications within the production studio. In addition to technical sessions, the conference will also showcase some of the latest applications, technologies and products in its exhibit hall as well as provide abundant networking opportunities at our special events. The exhibition hall and interop will be open Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 27 & 28 and offers an opening night reception on Tuesday.
VidTrans18 will feature a multivendor AMWA NMOS IS-06 Interop. IS-06 is the interface between the Broadcast Controller and the Network Controller that is used to secure network services. The demonstrated interfaces will feature the following functions:
- Discovering network topology.
- Authorizing endpoint devices such that only authorized devices are sending and receiving media flows to and from the network.
- Routing flows from senders to receivers via optimal paths.
- Bandwidth management which ensures no oversubscription and no drops of packets.
The interop will also feature a hybrid mode which enables the Broadcast Controller to perform authorization and manage bandwidth requests whereas flow routing is done directly by endpoints using IGMP or other mechanisms.
This year’s VidTrans conference will comprise 2 1/2 days of informative technical sessions on the latest technologies for high-performance IP media networking. Industry experts will present technical papers on a wide variety of topics related to video networking, IP transport and IP production. The conference includes two panel discussions; “2110 Phase 2, The Next Steps: Creating a More Productive Workflow” and “How the Media Industry Is Changing Focus to the Internet”. The preliminary conference program is available on the VSF site.
VidTrans provides an ideal venue for television professionals to see the latest IP media technologies in person. This low-key conference, attended primarily by industry decision makers, offers a great opportunity to speak directly with key technology providers and users from around the world.
The VidTrans 2018 Conference will also include a number of social networking events, providing attendees the opportunity to interact with colleagues and industry peers.
