According to Digitimes Research, the shipment of all-in-one PCs is expected to grow by 1.5% in 2017, when compared to 2016. Prior to 2017, there had been a three-year decline in worldwide demand for all-in-one PCs with shipments falling 4.8% in 2016 with only 12.11 million units being sold.
When compared to the total worldwide shipments for PCs, the share of all-in-one PCs increased from 10.3% in 2015 to 10.4% in 2016. However, total desktop PC shipments fell 5.3% and totalled 116.8 million units in 2016.
A senior analyst at Digitimes Research, expects the all-in-one PC share of worldwide PC shipments to rise to 10.9% in 2017 and to break through 11% in 2018. The analyst also believes worldwide desktop shipments will suffer a 3% year-on-year decline in 2017 with shipment of 113.3 million units.
The firm believes that the new Intel Kaby Lake processors will only have limited impact on shipment growth.
