The newest flagship phablet from US-based Blu boasts a massive battery and corresponding battery life. Aptly known as the Energy XL, the 6″ handset has a 5,000mAh battery and is said to last for up to three days on a single charge.
A metal body holds a fingerprint sensor, USB-C port and fast charging capability; this brings the battery to 43% power after 30 minutes of charge. The display is an AMOLED unit with 1920 x 1080 resolution, with Gorilla Glass 3.
Blu has chosen to use a Mediatek MT6753 64-bit octa-core 1.3GHz processor in the phone, supporting 4G connectivity. This is based on ARM’s Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali-T720 GPU. 64GB of storage and 3GB of RAM are also installed. Android 5.1 is the base OS, with an upgrade to 6.0 set to be launched this year.
For cameras, the Energy XL uses a 13MP rear lens with optical image stabilisation, HDR and PDAF. A wide-angle 5MP camera is installed on the front.
Blu is selling the phone in the USA now, for $300.
