Epson Performs Well in May

PMA Research has announced the top-selling projectors in the USA in March. The company divides the results into three categories: ‘home entertainment’, ‘mainstream’ and ‘4,000+ lumen’.

Optoma had a pair of projectors in the home entertainment category: the HD141X in first place and HD26 in third. Epson’s Powerlite Home Cinema 503UB was second and the Home Cinema 2040 was fourth. ViewSonic’s PJD7828HDL finished off the top five, in fifth place.

The mainstream category was topped by Epson’s Powerlite 97H in first and Brightlink 595Wi in second; the company’s Powerlite 98H also took fourth place. InFocus’ IN2124a was in third and NEC’s NP-M323W in fifth.

In the 4,000+ lumen category, Hitachi book-ended the results with the CP-X5022WN in first place and the CP-WX4041WN in fifth. Epson also had two models in the results, in second and fourth place: the Powerlite 1980WU and Powerlite Pro G6470WU. Sony’s VPL-FHZ60/W was in third.

Analyst Comment

Normally, the Euros would have stimulated demand for home cinema projectors in Europe, but we hear that sales have been flat with little effect from the competition. That’s a shame when the quality and value of projectors has never been better. (BR)
