DSCC is reporting a significant increase in OLED panel shipments in Q2’24, a 50% year-over-year (YoY) growth, driven by strong demand across the board in smartphones, TVs, monitors, and tablets. DSCC is quite bullish about continued demand for OLED panels.
OLED smartphone panel shipments rose by 49% YoY and follows a 13% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) increase, a strong recovery from the previous quarter’s 20% decline. But, tablet panels emerged as the standout performer, with shipments surging by 142% QoQ and an equally impressive 356% YoY. There was a 43% QoQ and 30% YoY growth in OLED TV panel shipments.
Samsung Display (SDC) maintained its leadership position in the OLED market, with its overall share rising to 40% in Q2’24, up from 37% in Q1’24, according to DSCC. This marks the first time in seven quarters that SDC has gained market share. The growth in SDC’s market share was primarily driven by the tablet segment, where SDC’s shipments increased by 248% QoQ, an enormous lift from Apple’s OLED iPad Pro sales.
