Sharp Prepares to Relocate, Says Japanese Media

Japan’s Nikkan Kogyo Shimbu has said that Sharp is considering relocating its headquarters in Osaka to the nearby city of Tenri, in Nara Prefecture.

The report’s sources say that Tenri is Sharp’s main hub for developing small- to medium-sized LCD displays. There is space there to accommodate ‘a large portion’ of the 800 employees at the company’s current HQ. Sales reps would be moved to other locations in Osaka.

According to Nikkan Kogyo Shimbu, the move would help Sharp to reduce costs and improve its cash flow.
