In June, Nvidia announced new monitors from Acer and Asus that would carry its G-Sync technology (Big Plans for Nvidia’s G-Sync This Year). An Acer model, the X34, confused people because it hadn’t been announced at the time! Now the company has unveiled the display, which is part of its Predator gaming series.
The Predator X34 is a curved 34″ 21:9 monitor, with 3440 x 1440 resolution. Back in June it was said that the native refresh rate of the IPS panel would be 75Hz; in fact it is 60Hz, but “overclocking” can boost the refresh to 100Hz.
Acer’s Comfy View and Eye Protect features are built in to avoid eyestrain in long gaming sessions. Comfy View is a matte coating, while Eye Protect includes a flicker-free backlight and low blue light technologies.
The monitor has an underglow (colour changeable) and Acer’s Predator GameView feature, which adds crosshairs to the display. It can also be used to change between display colour and underglow lighting profiles.
A DisplayPort input is featured for use with Nvidia’s G-Sync (also requires compatible graphics). HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 (x4) are also featured, as well as two 7W speakers. The display has a response time of 4ms; 178° viewing angles; a 1,000:1 contrast ratio; and 100% sRGB gamut coverage.
Acer is selling the X34 now, for $1,300.
