The BBC has announced plans to launch an OTT video streaming service in the USA. Tony Hall, the broadcaster’s director general, said that thee new service will be launched online next year, with no involvement from US network operators. Neither the name nor programming for the new service have been revealed, although Hall did say that it would show American viewers, “programmes they wouldn’t otherwise get”.
