The PT-DZ21K2 Evo projector series, Panasonic’s update to the PT-DZ21K (Display Monitor Vol 19 No 16), is now being launched across Europe. Comprising four 3DLP models, we first saw the projector series at ISE this year (Lang Moves, Retains Competencies).
There are four models in the new series: the PT-DZ21K2 (1920 x 1200, 20,000 lumens); PT-DS20K2 (1400 x 1050, 20,000 lumens); PT-DW17K2 (1366 x 768, 17,000 lumens); and PT-DZ16K2 (1920 x 1080, 16,000 lumens).
Aimed at large venue applications, the projectors have a ‘Real Motion Processor’, combining frame interpolation with a 120Hz refresh rate (not featured on the DW17K2). This is intended to deliver fluid motion reproduction. Waveform monitor, Dicom Simulation and active 3D projection modes are also featured.
All models use Panasonic’s implementation of HDBaseT, known as Digital Link, and a new picture enhancement system called the Detail Clarity Processor. They are fitted with four 432W lamps each, with a 3,000-hour lifetime; these can be operated in Relay Mode, to enable 24/7 projection. Liquid cooling means that the projectors will operate in temperatures up to 45°.
360° projection is supported. The DZ21K2 series of projectors are capable of edge blending, warping (DZ21K2 and DS20K2 only) and colour matching. They feature optional powered zoom and fixed focus lenses, with screen sizes ranging from 70″ – 1,000″. Each has a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, +/-40° vertical and +/-15° horizontal keystone correction.
HDMI, DVI-D, BNC x 5, VGA and RJ45 ports are featured. The 20,000-lumen models also have two SDI ports. Dimensions are 620 x 730 x 255mm and weight is 41kg.
The PT-DZ21K2 is available now. Other models will be launched throughout the month.
