Geneva-based Frederique Constant has unveiled a smartwatch with Swiss mechanisms and an analogue face. The Horological Smartwatch uses the MotionX platform, developed by Fullpower. MotionX is described as ‘tightly coupled firmware, smartphone applications and cloud infrastructure’. It can be used to, for example, build apps – it is the underlying technology behind the award-winning Nike+ GPS app and is used in Jawbone devices. The entire ecosystem includes circuit design, sensor-fusion firmware, communication stacks, smartphone apps and cloud infrastructure. Frederique Constant will begin to sell its watch, which connects to a smartphone app, from June.
