Worldwide semiconductor sales in January were the highest they have ever been at the beginning of a year, according to the USA’s Semiconductor Industry Association. Total sales reached $28.5 billion – an 8.7% YoY climb from January 2014’s $26.3 billion. Seasonal trends were reflected in the fact that these sales were 2% lower than those in December 2014.
Sales in the Americas were up 16.4% ($6.51 billion), with the region leading the global market. APACxJ rose 10.7%, while sales fell in Europe (0.2%) and Japan (8%).
This is the 21st consecutive month in which global sales have increased on an annual basis.
