A new study on connected cars of the future predicts that the growing market for displays/sensors and micro controllers will move the auto industry well beyond a niche market. It tracks a new wave of driving technology that puts these core hardware systems at the center of safety, control and entertainment, in the ultimate mobile device, the car. The study by Paris based Pierre Audion Consultants confirms that Europe is currently in a “second wave” of connected driving build-out with 98% of car makers in design, development or (even) deployment of a connected car solution today. Further, a full 75% of these makers consider the connected car an integral part of their long-term strategic planning with significant impact on market positioning in the future, according to the February 2015 report.
