Coretronic ended 2014 with a 20% increase in shipments of backlight units (BLUs), with volume reaching 92.9 million units. This was despite seeing shipments fall 11% sequentially in Q4 to 23.4 million and 2% MoM in December to 7.5 million units.
Sales for the year were 11.6% higher than the previous year at NT$81.2 billion ($2.5 billion), while in Q4 sales slipped quarter on quarter by 10.7% to NT$19.3 billion ($610 million). In December, however, Coretronic’s sales rose 3.5% MoM to NT$6.4 billion ($202.3 million), though this was 6.9% lower YoY.
Coretronic shipped 86,000 DLP projectors in December, down 3% from the previous month and for the fourth quarter, shipments were 12.9% down QoQ at 283,000 units. DLP projector shipments for the whole of 2014 improved 15% YoY to reach 1.2 million units.
