Qualcomm is currently facing an antitrust investigation in China (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 36) and has now revealed new probes in the USA and Europe.
During the company’s earnings report (see Finance News), Qualcomm announced that the two investigations had begun in the last month. The USA’s Federal Trade Commission is investigating the company’s patent licensing business, while its baseband chipset business is being examined in Europe.
The inquiries are currently at a preliminary stage and Qualcomm has said that it is fully co-operating with the agencies.
