The top 10 pay-TV providers in the USA lost 400,000 subscribers in Q2’15, according to Informitiv’s Multiscreen Index. This wipes out a small gain earlier in the year, although still represents less than 0.5% of the subscriber base.
DirecTV lost the most customers (133,000, to 20.3 million total subscribers). AT&T recorded a net loss of 23,000 for its U-verse service. With the DirecTV acquisition, AT&T now has more than 26.2 million US subscribers. Dish lost 81,000 (to 13.9 million), Comcast lost 69,000 (to 22.3 million) and TWC lost 45,000 (to 10.8 million). Charter, Cablevision, Mediacom and Suddenlink lost 75,000 between them. Verizon was the only operator to show a gain, adding 26,000 subscribers.
