3M Slims Touch at ISE

3M metal mesh displayA new, ultra-thin version of 3M‘s (8.350) procap metal mesh technology will be highlighted. It is suitable for up to UltraHD resolution screens and curved displays. The metal mesh is 3 microns thick, and will enable ‘more vibrant’ displays, says the company. It also supports up to 80 simultaneous touch points and features 3M’s palm rejection technology.

Two new partners will be celebrated by AG Neovo (8.F180): Vidco and Avenview. As well as this, the company will show its new professional slim-bezel screens, in sizes up to 65″. Specifically the PM-32, -43, -55 and -65 will be showcased. New mounts (VWM-01 and VWM-02) will also be displayed.

Other screens will include the PN-46, for vertical applications such as broadcast, and the RX-22 and RX-32, which can be used to add additional display space to monitoring tasks.

Germany’s Eyevis and Chinese LED maker Unilumin will celebrate a new partnership at the show. Eyevis will show a new indoor product range called ‘ePanels’, with a pixel pitch of 0.9mm (to be showcased on a 3.7m x 2.1m video wall), 1.2mm, 1.5mm and 1.9mm.

NEC (4.R24) has gone into more detail on its partnership with S[quadrat] (NEC Planning LED Signage with Peel-and-Replace Modules). The ‘peel-and-replace modules’ which we wrote about previously – these use magnets to attach to a structural backplane – will be referred to as ‘LiFT’ (LED intelligent Front Technology) products.

The LED LiFT range will be based around a 16:9 module, with four pitch sizes available: 1.5mm, 1.9mm, 2.3mm and 3.8mm. All will use the same module, and are interchangeable.

A new 1DLP laser projector is to be shown by Panasonic (1.H20). Featuring a new generation of laser diodes, the PT-RZ570 has a four-segment colour wheel. It is a compact model, aimed at boosting the price:performance ratio of solid state illumination.

Panasonic’s Digital Link technology – a version of HDBaseT – can be used to send video and control signals up to 150m to the projector. It has 1920 x 1200 resolution and reaches 5,200 lumens of brightness. Operational noise is low, at 29dB, and the projector can be used in a 360° orientation. Panasonic will ship the PT-RZ570 in March.

Two LCD projector series will be on show nearby; both are 5,000 lumen models. The PT-EZ590 range features exchangeable lenses, while the PT-FZ570 models have fixed lenses and a wide zoom and shift range.

UltraHD input modules have been developed by TVOne for its Coriomaster systems. Two new modules will be shown: the CM-HDMI-4K-2IN, an HDMI 2.0 input unit handling frame rates up to 60fps; and the CM-HDMI-4K-SC-1OUT, an HDMI 1.4 output module which will convert frame rates down to 30fps. Both are HDCP-compatible.
